GLACIER PARK
LODGE AND RESORT

Glacier National Park

Glacier Park Lodge and Resort Photo

Planning your 2007 vacation? We have just the spot for you !

There just isn’t any place like Glacier National Park. And there is a Lodge to call home, while you’re here. Let me tell you about it.

" Glacier Park Lodge and Resort," is located in East Glacier, on the Eastern Gateway. It lies along the mainline of the Burlington Northern railroad.
This impressive lodge is steeped in rich Western theme which will amaze you. As you enter the huge lobby. The supports are of very large Douglas Fir pillars, forty feet high, and forty inches around. It was named "Omahkoyis" by the Blackfeet Indians, which meant "Big Tree Lodge."

You are bound to feel as if you have stepped back in time, while also enjoying the comforts of home. The main attraction of the lobby is a huge stone fireplace with enough comfortable seating to accommodate a large group, either relaxing and visiting with new friends, write letters ,or play games. All while enjoying the fantastic scenery. There is no television here to distract you from the atmosphere of this "old West " feeling, and the great outdoors. There is no air conditioning available in the rooms, so the balconies and lakeside tend to be the gathering point on a hot summers day.  There is also no elevator service to the upper rooms, so come prepared to use the large open staircase.
There are no refrigerators in the rooms, but restaurants are prepared to serve any kind of food your desire.
You may ask at the desk for an iron, ironing board, and hair dryers.

Pets are not allowed in the Lodge.  And the Lodge is completely Smoke Free.

" The Great Northern Steak and Rib House", serves a complete menu of Beef, Ribs, Chicken or fish. There is a full Breakfast Buffet from 6:30 A.M. until 10:00 Lunch is served from 11:30 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. And Dinner is served from 5:00 to 9:30 P.M. You may enjoy Beer or wine with your lunch and dinner. You are invited to come dressed casually. with no reservations, as it is first come first served.

Fireplace at Lodge

You will find a Television in the Lounge with a well stocked bar.
The Lounge opens at 11:30 A.M. and closes at midnight. You may enjoy lunch and dinner menu items here.

Inside Lodge

There is also a Country Mercantile at the lodge, where you may shop for snacks and drinks. They carry health and beauty products along with reading materials. You will find the items that you neglected to bring.  Enjoy the Gift Shop too. they have lots of items to look at.
Maybe you would like to take some Native American Jewelry home.
You can find Indian Blankets, and blankets from the Glacier National Park series, and a lot of Souvenirs, all while wandering through the "Native American Trading Post".

If you enjoy Golf, you may rent a cart and clubs at the Golf Shop, and go a round on Montana’s oldest grass greens golf course. { 9 holes long, par 36 } This course was built by the Great Northern Railroad in 1927.

There is so much to see and do while on vacation here at Glacier Park Lodge and Resort. You may want to take the Red Bus tour, or take a boat cruise on Two Medicine Lake. Go horse back riding, hiking, fishing, or make a visit to the Spa. There is also an afternoon Children’s workshop. giving you time to relax before taking the family swimming in the heated pool. The pool is open from late June until late August.

Glacier National Park is located in the northwest corner of Montana, just north of Columbia Falls. The park encompasses more than one million acres and is home to grizzly bear, moose, elk, along with 63 varieties of wild mammals. While most of the roads in Glacier National Park are closed off during the winter, this provides miles and miles of tracks for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Visitors are seldom around in the dead of winter, so the muffled hush of the snow covered woods is especially enticing and serene.

A ski or snowshoe trip along the Going-to-the-Sun Road, which is one of the most scenic roads in North America, is a great option, according to park rangers. The road is closed to cars from September or October until snowmelt, usually in June. Several short hiking trails branch off from the road, which would be excellent for snowshoeing or skiing in the winter season.

Once you have your gear, head up to Glacier National Park for an exciting adventure. Guided snowshoe trips are available, led by a park naturalist, and are highly recommended. If you are looking for an informative tour, snowshoeing is an easy way to explore the winter wonderland of this unique park. Snowshoeing will provide even the novice an effortless activity so your senses are more in tune with your environment and your guide's knowledge on the history, wildlife, geology, and biology of this precious ecosystem.
