Lake Josephine Trail
A paved footpath leaving the upper Swiftcurrent boat dock leads you to the foot of Lake Josephine. Here you can either board the boat if taking a guided tour, or follow along the wooded shoreline path to the head of Lake Josephine and on to Grinnell Lake or Grinnell Glacier. The red rock of Allen Mountain emerge as the main backdrop for your 1.4 mile walk to the head of Lake Josephine.
Three quarters
of the way in the trail leads off to the right for Grinnell Glacier.
Following the trail straight will lead you to the head of Lake
Josephine, where a boardwalk leads you around to the Oastler
Shelter. If taking the boat tour the shelter is the drop off point
to begin your hike into the Grinnell Glacier and Hidden Falls and
Grinnell Lake. To return to the head of Swiftcurrent Lake travel
along the south shore Lake Josephine trail. Wonderful views across
the turquoise waters reveal Mount Gould's face. The trail winds
around tiny Stump Lake and returns you to the head waters of
